Growing Vegetables In Rainy Season
Target
Product
Location
- Taiwan/Southern/Chiayi/Zhongpu
Duration
- 2019/06/02 — 2019/07/01
Reasons of application
- Low productivity of vegetables during rainy season
- High humidity affects germination rate of seedling
- Inhibited roots growth limits the development of leaves
Progress
Summer in Taiwan is often accompanied by typhoons and rains. Long-term soaking of soils inhibits roots development and further affects nutrients uptakes and overall plant growth. Additionally, high temperature elevates the evaporation rate and generates high humidity condition that favors pathogens’ growth. VIGOROUS contains beneficial microbes that secrete vast arrays of enzymes and decompose organic matters to increase nutrients availability for roots. Bioyo Biotech cooperates with Zhongpu local farmers in a field study, to evaluate the potential of product in alleviating temperature and humidity stress in vegetables.
Results
After one month of applying VIGOROUS in four types of vegetables:
1. Increase the germination rate of Taiwanese A-Choy (Lactuca sativa var. sativa)
2. Increase leaf area and fresh weight of Japanese mustard spinach (Brassica rapa var. perviridis) and two variants of Chinese Cabbage (Brassica rapa subsp. chinensis)
3. Elevates survival of seasonal vegetables under environmental stresses
